Better Late Than Never!!!

So, I have been slightly delinquint in the blogging world, but I wanted to write something (even though we leave for Ecuador in about 2 days)!

My name is Liz. I am a 5th year senior, 23 years old, and proud of it, majoring in Criminology and minoring in Psych and Sexuality Studies. I will be graduating this Spring and am looking to go to culinary school in New York when I leave. I am a random, crazy, open person...and I am very excited about this trip!

It will be my first time leaving the country. I might get freaked out on the plane and attempt to jump off, but just ignore that! My passport picture is awful, so if anything happens to me...don't let anyone see it:)

I guess I am just really, really excited. This entire time I didn't actually believe that I was going and now, well, it is all starting to come together!

I can't wait for our group dinner on Friday and so sorry I missed Bob's great pizza party. I heard it was awesome!

Ok ya'll....till Friday:)

Hola!

Hola! I hope everyone's quarter is ending smoothly...yay for Ecuador in 17 days! Ahhh! Who knew that it would be here so quickly?

So I don't really know what to say in all of this...hmm...so...I'll start w/ a few of my favorites: I LOVE spicy food, shakira, singing, trying new things, travelling (i have wanderlust), good books, shopping, coffee, feminism and vaginas. I seriously dislike white condiments (mayo, ranch dressing), derogatory language, close-mindedness and lazyness. I'm a bad speller. I can't eat ice cream or sing. I love to talk. I cry alot. My favorite cities are Chicago and Barcelona. My favorite things about Columbus are Betty's, Moy's and Mirror lake. I absolutely have to go on a trip every few weeks, even if it's only to Bowling Green to visit my significant other, Paul aka my apple who I talk too much about. I'm obnixous. I'm super excited about trying all of the fruit (11 types of bananas?! who knew!?) and the guinea pig!!

And to summerize b/c I had no clue what to put in this thing, I asked my friends what they would want to know about me if they didn't know me and had to spend a week in Ecuador w/ me...does that make sense? think about it for a second and then read on to their comments...

Azher: that you like to talk explicitly about sex and that people shouldn't get shocked if you say something they aren't ready for
Azher: your never in a medium mood, you're always really mad, sad, happy etc

Nadeem: "you're a dead sexy heart breaker who smiles a lot and has pretty eyes" (ok i just put this in here to flatter myself, i'm pretty narcissitic as well)

Kavitha: talk about what your vagina likes to say
(this is actually a fab. descriptor of me-my vag. has a lot to say!)

*The pic is of Sheeva and I being fabulous during Vagina Monologues!

a blog for students going to ecuador with ASB 2006

Hello!

Here is our wonderful quote we made on Sunday night:

"The highest of distinctions is to weave a life with the best of others, so that smooth seas will take you home again; because only if you've been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain."

Greetings :-)

(smiley faces are the extent of my computer savvy :-)

Hello!
I'm Sheeva, and it has been just a pleasure getting to know you all and I'm looking forward to more excitement as our trip nears!! This is a picture of me when I went to New York this past winter break to visit my brother, as I was wandering the city. New York is one of my favorite places because it holds all the things I love, theatre, music, art, different kinds of people, good food, public transportation, my brother, and many other things I'm probably forgetting. I'm a third year psychology major doing minors in music and Asian American Studies. My free time generally involves reading, watching movies, pondering things, and eating good food. The last good book I read was Freakonomics and the last good movie I saw was Monsoon Wedding. If you all have good recommendations let me know!! I guess I'll bid farewell with my quote from our ASB meeting:

"Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors," African proverb

Not quite as amazing as the quote we made up together at the meeting, but I hope still adds some enjoyment. I can't wait to learn more about you all, and until we meet again...
Best Wishes,
Sheeva

WAHOO for ECUADOR!

WOW! This blogging thing is simply amazing! :)

I'm Andrew - a 3rd year theatre major and a VERY EXCITED co-trip leader for the ASB trip to Ecuador this Spring Break.
hmmm...how much should i reveal...?

well, i'm a theatre fanatic. and am planning on making sure that, by the end of trip, whenever i sing a showtune, all of you will not only be able to name the show it is from but also be able to sing along. :)
other than that, i love board games, being a Buckeye, artichokes, and Bob Dog (my stuffed animal from when i was little)

The picture I have up (and yes, that is me with a buzz haircut and facial hair) is from last year's ASB trip to Oklahoma where we volunteered at a Head Start program on the Cherokee Nation - an amazing and eye-opening experience. The little girl I am holding is named Emily - and let's just say it was hard to leave her. ;)

That's all for now. I hope all of you know how thrilled I am for this trip...I promise that Dhriti and I will do all we can to make this a wonderful experience for all of us.
I already heart all of you!

YAY for service!
-Andrew
